'WSL Ving Tsun Combat Science – Malaysia' principal instructor, Sifu David Peterson, has recently returned from his 17th trip to the UK to teach 'WSLVT', on this occasion conducting two-day intensive seminar weekends in London and Stockport (Manchester), and mid-week workshops in Odense, Denmark as well.
Attendees came from all over Europe, including Bulgaria, France, Italy and Finland, as well as Canada, Australia and all over the UK and Denmark, with several Ving Tsun (Wing Chun) lineages/organisations represented. The numbers were excellent on all days, with in excess of 50 people in attendance at most sessions.
Each seminar/workshop, the topics of which varied from location to location, involved five to six hours of detailed instruction and intense physical interaction for those who took part, with everyone having completed a great workout and taking away loads of new ideas and enhanced skills. For some, it was their first taste of 'WSLVT' and it proved to be an eye-opener that left them hungry for more. Many were heard describing how they had experienced multiple "brain freeze" moments during the course of the presentations by Sifu Peterson, even some who had trained in Ving Tsun/Wing Chun for several years.
In both the UK and in Denmark, quite a number of attendees who had previously trained and taught in other Ving Tsun lineages had, by the end of the seminars, decided to leave those organisations and pursue a serious study of 'WSL Ving Tsun Combat Science' with senior students of Sifu Peterson who reside and teach in the UK and in Denmark. Others just shook their heads wondering why they had not been shown such practical, logical information by their own teachers, stunned by the effectiveness of the drills being taught and the concepts being described each day. "This just makes so much sense!" was a commonly heard statement at all venues.
Naturally, the success of this tour is very much due to the outstanding efforts to organise and promote it that began many months before the event. As such, sincere thanks are extended to Sifu Ged Kennerk and the students of the 'Stockport/Manchester Wing Chun Academy', Sifu Jason Gowan and the students of 'WSL Ving Tsun London', and Sifu Morten Ibsen and students of the 'Danish Ving Tsun Federation' in Odense. We now look forward to seeing many of them here in Malaysia in a just a few months to attend the upcoming '1st Annual WSL Ving Tsun Kuen Hok Worldwide Fellowship Gathering' that will be held from October 12-14, 2012 at the Seremban venue.Share
